It goes without saying that if you have a bad diet your skin will reflect that, but with hyperpigmentation you can do everything right and your skin can still look like crap. A lot of the time, it's genetic. I know my mother had problems with spotty skin and so do I.
When my mom was younger, there weren't as many products for lightening dark spots - at least none that actully worked - but nowadays there are a ton of products on the market to help you even your skin tone. The problem is choosing a product that won't make the problem worse.
You see, many ‘lightening and brightening’ products contain harsh chemicals that are downright dangerous to your health. If you live in the U. S. , don't assume you're safe. Products from overseas often make it to the American market. These skin whitening products contain mercury or hydroquinone which are both toxic. In the case of hydroquinone, you'll probably find it doesn't even work as promised.
Hydroquinone is often touted as the ‘gold standard’ in skin whitening prodcts. I used these products as a teen and they never worked for me. Usually the product advised 6-8 weeks of use to see any difference - I never did. Here's the secret that the manufacturers will never tell you.
Hydroquinone works great in the lab. It lightens skin like nothing else. Too bad it doesn't work that way in the real world. Problem is that it oxidizes very quickly. Ever notice that cream containing hydroquinone turns brown or dark yellow almost immediatly? That's oxidation. Once that happens, you may as well throw it away because it's no longer effective.
So if it's not effective, why is is banned in Europe and Asia? When it was used on lab rats, the rats developed cancer. In some countries it's used in high percentage and has been known to cause ‘ochronosis’, a condition where the skin turns a gray-blue color.
In other words, for it to be effective the percentage of chemical has to be so high that it would cause you other health problems. Luckily, there are many natural ingredients that can give you the results you are looking for without the fear of damaging your health. Natural skin lightening products contain ingredients like licorice extract, kojic acid, arbutin, and soy - all of which are gentle and effective.
The market for skin lightening products has many customers. Often it is thought the majority of people who buy skin lightening products are trying to lighten their complexions because of social pressures. Many times a person just wants to get back to their original complexion after damaging their skin. There’s no need to suffer with acne scars, freckles, sun spots, age spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and liver spots.

Acne scar is a stage of skin disorder that needs to be taken care off while using other Skin Lightening lotions.
